The Japanese art photography exhibition “The Monochrome,” held at the Roppongi AXIS Gallery from Saturday, June 13, 2026, to Sunday, June 14, 2026, has successfully concluded.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended.

To everyone who visited during a break in the rainy season, and to the photographers I had the pleasure of meeting—it was a joy to speak with you, even if only briefly.

To everyone at Nihon Bungei, thank you very much for your warm hospitality.

I had long looked forward to this exhibition at the Roppongi AXIS Gallery, a venue I had always admired.

While I was at the venue, I felt that the visitors’ reactions were very positive; perhaps the atmosphere of the venue contributed to that.

Captain Nao, the owner of a coffee stand I met in Onomichi.

I was drawn to his refreshing personality and sincere work ethic, so I paid him a visit.

Nao, who used to be a navigator on a cargo ship, became a backpacker after leaving the ship and traveled all over the country.

He returned to Japan and moved to Onomichi to open his shop.

During the summer, he closes the shop and continues to travel the world.
